Wanna talk about rape? Everyone else does.

The election season is over, finally, and if I take any one thing away from these last few months it is that everyone loves to talk about rape. From the buffet of rape comment mishaps these past few months, I would like to pick the one that has intrigued me the most. It came from the head hole of Indiana Senate runner-up Richard Mourdock, and it went like this, “…..life is that gift from God. And, I think, even when life begins in that horrible situation of rape, that it is something that God intended to happen.”
Well, thanks God, I guess. This comment sound atrocious, and reading into it a little further Mourdock is justifying the rape with the pregnancy, which would mean a baby-less rape is even worse. It would also seem that in Mourdock’s eyes just about anything would be acceptable as long as the action, or a consequence of the action, could somehow be seen as God’s intention.
Here is the thing though, this comment is phrased terribly, but isn’t this essentially the belief of anyone who is pro-life? There is the common amendment for pro-lifers of “in the event of incest or rape”, but if you are across the board pro-life, or on the fence with this amendment, this is the sentiment, right? At least Mourdock said what he believes, even if what he believes came out in and awful awful way.
